27 मई, 2025 को देहरादून के मित्तल परिवार के सात सदस्य पंचकूला के सेक्टर 27 में एक बंद कार के अंदर मृत पाए गए। मृतकों में 42 वर्षीय प्रवीण मित्तल, उनकी पत्नी, माता-पिता और तीन बच्चे शामिल थे। अधिकारियों को आर्थिक तंगी के कारण सामूहिक आत्महत्या का संदेह है, क्योंकि परिवार कथित तौर पर 20 करोड़ रुपये के कर्ज में डूबा हुआ था। वाहन से बरामद एक सुसाइड नोट में प्रवीण की इस हरकत के लिए जिम्मेदारी बताई गई है। घटना से पहले, परिवार बागेश्वर धाम में एक धार्मिक कार्यक्रम में शामिल हुआ था। इस त्रासदी ने मानसिक स्वास्थ्य और वित्तीय बोझ के दबाव पर चर्चा को बढ़ावा दिया है।
